Frequently Asked Questions about how Satispay works

Satispay is not a bank, but an independent payment system, separate from traditional card networks.


We use a security system superior to banking standards and an encryption system that never shares sensitive or personal data during any payment phase.


We are an authorized E-Money Institution, which is why we do not lend user funds to other individuals or businesses.

We ask for it because we need it to top up your Satispay account.


Satispay is funded directly from your private bank account (or your reloadable card with an IBAN). It is not linked to your credit/debit card numbers, details you are not asked for during registration or service use.


We built Satispay using the IBAN instead of credit/debit cards to make it extremely secure. Satispay connects directly to your current account, and to do this, we need the unique identifier of your current account—the IBAN. It is possible to use any IBAN from countries within the SEPA area* where the SEPA scheme is available.


Unlike a credit card number, the IBAN cannot be used to make payments. In fact, debiting is only permitted to financial institutions via a mandate authorized by the account holder.


The IBAN is requested from all adult users joining our community. Minor users who are already part of it and become adults can enter their IBAN and say "Bye bye allowance" 👋


*All SEPA area states excluding: Vatican City, Iceland.

📧 your email address;

🪪 your photo ID (Passport / National ID Card / Driving License);

💳 your tax ID code (only if you're residing in Italy);
