Satispay, the Italian super-app and proprietary payment network that makes money and financial-service management simple and accessible, is speaking at the TEHA Group Community Cashless Society Forum. Italy's leading private and independent Think Tank is presenting its 11th 2026 Report on digital payments today at Villa d'Este in Cernobbio. Noemi Lapalombella, Director of Institutional Relations at Satispay, is taking part in the panel "The role of the cashless-payments value chain in the development of the national system and for citizens", dedicated to the evolution of cashless payments as a tool for financial education and inclusion.
Noemi Lapalombella observed: "At Satispay, we see a very clear dynamic: financial inclusion is not achieved only by explaining the theory, but by simplifying the practice. We began with micropayments because high-frequency use turns digital payments into an everyday action, and an everyday action builds trust. Trust then opens the door to something bigger: savings, employee benefits, investments and pensions. Above all, financial inclusion means providing simple tools that eliminate complexity, allowing everyone to understand what is happening to their money. Our objective is to build an ecosystem in which every person — regardless of income or level of financial education — has the everyday solutions and freedom to manage their money knowingly. Because a more financially aware society is inevitably a fairer and more inclusive society."
It is on the basis of this approach that Satispay brought its vision and experience as an operator that, through innovation, actively contributes to building a different culture of digital payments and money management in Italy. With a community of 6 million users and more than 400,000 participating merchants, Satispay is a service ecosystem centered on simplicity and inclusion: its ease of use and progressive diversification of services — from everyday payments to savings, and from employee benefits to investments — make it an app designed to be used every day by anyone.
Data from TEHA Group's 2026 Report confirms a structural transformation in Italians' payment behavior: 75.1% of recurring expenditure is paid using cashless instruments, while 64.2% of the population uses a card or smartphone every day or several times a week, up from 57.4% in 2024 — with 52.7% citing speed and convenience as their main reasons. Cashless dominates recurring expenditure: bills (88.7%), rent (85.6%) and mobile top-ups (80.7%) are the most digitized categories. Differences between sectors remain: cashless accounts for 92% of transactions in hospitality, but only 55% in public transport.
"In Italy, the evolution of digital payments is a structural transformation involving the entire ecosystem of consumption and economic relationships. The growing spread of cashless payments in citizens' daily habits is a positive sign that the system is maturing, but at the same time it highlights the continued presence of marked differences among sectors, services and contexts of use, which mean the payment experience is not always consistent," stated Lorenzo Tavazzi, Senior Partner and Board Member, The European House – Ambrosetti and TEHA Group. "At the same time, significant acceleration is also being observed on the supply side: the share of merchants accepting cashless payments has risen from 79% to 98% in recent years, driven above all by increasing customer demand. According to operators' statements, moreover, a 1 percentage-point increase in cashless-payment acceptance is associated with a revenue increase of between 0.2 and 0.6 percentage points, confirming the role of cashless payments as a tangible growth lever. To consolidate the cashless transition, it will be essential to accelerate convergence among infrastructure, services and behavior, fostering a more consistent experience across the different moments of consumption. The challenge in the coming years will be to broaden the spread of digital technologies further, building an integrated, accessible and seamless payments ecosystem capable of effectively accompanying the evolution of citizens' and companies' habits throughout the consumption value chain."
